IV Therapy
IV fusion therapy, also known as intravenous infusion therapy, is a medical treatment where fluids, nutrients,
vitamins and minerals are delivered directly into a person's bloodstream via an intravenous (IV) line.
This method is commonly used to ensure that substances are absorbed quickly and efficiently by the body, as it bypasses the digestive system.
There are different types of IV fusion therapies, depending on the individual's health needs, such as:
-
Hydration IV Therapy: Provides fluids to rehydrate the body, often used for dehydration from illness, exercise, or hangovers.
-
Vitamin and Nutrient Infusions: Delivers a high dose of vitamins like Vitamin C, B12, or other nutrients that can help with energy levels,
immune function, and overall health.
-
Wellness IV Therapy: Includes a combination of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants aimed at boosting general well-being and vitality.
-
Beauty and Anti-Aging IV Therapy: Typically includes nutrients and antioxidants such as glutathione, which are believed to support skin health and fight aging.
Benefits
The benefits of IV fusion therapy include faster absorption compared to oral intake, customized treatments based on individual health needs,
and potential improvements in hydration, energy, and immune function.
However, it should always be administered by a qualified healthcare professional to ensure safety and avoid potential side effects.

What to expect from a treatment:
- Pre-Treatment Assessment
-
Medical History: The healthcare provider reviews the patient's medical history, including any allergies, current medications,
and existing health conditions (eg: kidney disease, heart conditions, etc).
-
Indication for IV Therapy: The provider assesses the patient's symptoms or health needs
(eg: hydration, vitamin deficiency, recovery support) to determine the appropriate IV therapy type (eg: hydration, vitamin infusion, detox).
-
Vital Signs: Blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature are typically checked to ensure the patient is in a stable condition for IV therapy.
-
Informed Consent: The patient is informed about the procedure, potential risks, and benefits, and consent is obtained.
- Preparation
-
Selection of IV Fluids and Additives: The healthcare provider selects the appropriate Farsk IV drip
(Radiance, Energy, Boost, High Vit C, Glut Glow, Build, and NAD+) and may add specific vitamins, minerals, or medications depending on the patient's needs (eg: NAD+, Vitamin D, B12, etc).
-
IV Equipment: Necessary equipment, such as an IV catheter, sterile gloves, antiseptic wipes, tubing, and an IV bag, is prepared.
-
Patient Positioning: The patient is positioned comfortably, often lying down, to minimize the risk of dizziness or fainting during the infusion.
- IV Insertion
-
Choosing a Vein: A suitable vein, usually in the forearm or hand, is selected for IV insertion.
-
Sterilization: The skin is cleaned with an antiseptic solution (chlorhexidine or rubbing alcohol) to prevent infection.
-
Insertion of the IV Needle: A needle or catheter is inserted into the vein to establish access.
Once the catheter is in place, the needle is removed, and the catheter remains.
-
Securing the IV: The IV is secured with a sterile Tegaderm™ dressing to prevent movement or dislodging.
- Administration of IV Therapy
-
Infusion Rate: The IV fluids are administered at a controlled rate, typically starting slow to ensure the body tolerates the infusion.
The rate of administration may vary depending on the type of therapy (eg: hydration might be faster, while nutrient therapy might be slower).
-
Monitoring: Throughout the infusion, the healthcare provider monitors the patient for signs of discomfort, allergic reactions, or any adverse effects.
-
Duration: Depending on the protocol, the infusion can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
-
Discontinuing the IV: Once the infusion is complete, the IV catheter is removed, and pressure is applied to the insertion site to stop any bleeding.
-
Hydration and Monitoring: The patient is monitored for a period post-infusion to ensure no side effects or adverse reaction.
The patient may be given additional fluids orally if required.
-
Instructions and Follow-Up: The patient will receive post-treatment care instructions and any follow-up needed for additional therapies.
Dr. Corey Birch will be the medical director and will be doing all IV therapies at Innercore Health.
