Acupuncture in London, Ontario.
Acupuncture with Dr. Ken Hou, including pediatric and cosmetic acupuncture, on its own or combined with a chiropractic visit.
What is acupuncture used for?
Acupuncture involves placing very fine, single-use sterile needles at specific points on the body. At Innercore Health it is commonly used for chronic pain, muscle tension, headaches and stress, and as recovery support alongside other treatment.
We offer traditional acupuncture rooted in Chinese medicine, acupuncture combined with chiropractic treatment in a single visit, pediatric acupuncture for children, and cosmetic acupuncture aimed at skin tone and fine lines.
Who provides acupuncture at Innercore?
Acupuncture at Innercore is provided by Dr. Ken Hou, the chiropractor who founded the clinic. His specialty training includes acupuncture and myofascial release, and he has been a registered member of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO) since 2014.
What does a first appointment look like?
Your first visit is a 45 minute initial assessment and treatment. Follow-up acupuncture visits are 30 minutes. Dr. Hou takes a full history, asks what you want out of care and starts treatment in the same appointment. You then rest with the needles in place while he checks on your comfort.
Common questions
Does acupuncture hurt?
Most people feel very little. Acupuncture needles are much finer than the needles used for injections, and insertion is usually painless or feels like a brief pinch. While the needles are in place, many people notice a mild, dull ache or warmth at the point.
Is acupuncture covered by my benefits?
Many extended health plans cover acupuncture, but coverage varies from plan to plan. We bill many extended health insurers directly, and our reception can help you check what your plan includes. The list of insurers we bill is on our rates and insurance page.
Can children receive acupuncture?
Yes. We offer pediatric acupuncture appointments, with technique and treatment length adapted to the child.
What is cosmetic acupuncture?
Cosmetic acupuncture uses the same fine needles on the face. It is aimed at skin tone and fine lines, and does not involve surgery or injectables. Like other acupuncture at Innercore, it starts with an initial visit and assessment.
